I'm a writer and performer specialising in character comedy around the circuit in South Wales and beyond. You will find me performing at comedy gigs, open mic nights and charity events, as well as music and literature festivals. I have even performed at Techniquest science centre!

I trained at Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama in London in the 90's and have since been mainly working as a drama tutor. But I missed being in the spotlight and several years ago started to write my own material to read out at the occasional performance with The Cardiff Cafe Writers. It just grew from there. People seemed to like my work, so I decided it was time to start putting my material together into a show. I've been getting stage time wherever I can and will hopefully have an Edinburgh show ready soon. Watch this space!

I'm also branching into working as a voice-over artist. Have a listen to my showreels on the voice-over page where you can discover the range of my vocal skills. I can help promote your business or event.

"The second offering as part of the Brighton Comedy Fringe event was Karen Sherrard’s TV gardening character Esme De Flange.

It was also well received – mostly due to the audience’s surprise of how many green fingered references could be construed as sexual innuendo.

Esme’s wanton and suggestive stage act was a mix of Nigella Lawson-esque chat and Charlie Dimmock-like gestures. There were sniggers and cackles from the audience at almost every description – as well as surprise and sometimes revulsion at a display of phallic plant pictures."

"Where do you go to find narrative stand-up comedy about the woman’s point of view? Not just observational humour, not just the well-worn paths of male sexism, but refreshing, wry and laugh-out-loud material with which all of us can identify, male and female: Sherrard does it. Warm, witty and winsome, with always the unexpected twist in the outcome and the constant readjustment of a view on the world. You want to bottle Sherrard and take her home."

Colin Sell, BBC Radio 4's "I'm Sorry I haven't a Clue"

"I haven't belly laughed like that in ages."
